Breast Pathology

The Center  provides a range of diagnostic and predictive tests in breast pathology. One thousand core biopsies and over a thousand surgical excision cases are evaluated annually, mainly, for the National Cancer Institute as well as other healthcare units in Lithuania and Latvia.

Standard testing includes immunohistochemistry for Estrogen and Progesteron receptors, Ki-67, and Her-2/neu. HER2 bordeline cases are verified by HER2 FISH test.

Breast pathology is supervised by pathologist Rūta Barbora Valkiūnienė.

Research is focused on digital immunohistochemistry and FISH methodologies for precise assessment of the immunohistochemistry and FISH testing, including intratumour heterogeneity of biomarker expression: http://www.digitalpathology.mf.vu.lt/en/
